Inclusive Learning
Foghlaim Chuimsitheach
St Brigid’s College believes that every pupil should have access to the full curriculum and the social opportunities available in school. Therefore, as a staff, we are fully committed to ensuring inclusion, providing the highest quality learning opportunities and outstanding support for pupils with additional needs. In order to achieve this, we cater for pupils across the five overarching categories of need: Cognition & Learning; Social, Behavioural, Emotional & Wellbeing; Speech, Language & Communication; Sensory and Physical Needs, to ensure that each pupil, across all abilities and ages, is supported in developing and realising their full potential.
To enable our pupils to learn, thrive and achieve, staff work in partnership with families and wider services, to implement the individual measures (Personal Education Plans) needed to overcome barriers to learning, and be a part of their educational journey. We aim, with the assistance of our Pastoral Care and Learning Support Team, to prepare our pupils thoroughly for adulthood, employability or further education. The school is dedicated to promoting the motivation pupils require to achieve their life goals.
SPiMs – Specialist Provision in Mainstream Settings
Through our SPiMs partnership with the Education Authority, we provide targeted support for pupils with Social and Communication needs at Stage 3 of the Code of Practice, delivering a structured, positive learning environment within the mainstream school setting.
